Mental Health Matters: Recognizing, Acknowledging, and Supporting Staff
Our campus takes a Panorama survey three times a year (once in the Fall, once in Winter, and once in Spring). Upon analyzing the results, I decided to create a SEL Toolbox that caters to teachers and staff.
There are 7 categories: Videos & Webinars, Self-Care Guides, Journaling, Meditation, Daily Affirmations, Guided Self-Compassion Breaks, and Articles. There's a wide range of resources that are catered to focusing on self-care and improving mental health!
Under Meditation, there is a link to Headspace. This is a great website/app to use as it focuses on meditation and calming yourself. It's also free for teachers (you must sign up with your school email). It has sleep casts (relaxing stories that help you in falling asleep), sleep radios (various relaxing sounds that play for up to 8 hours), and guided breathing exercises, exercises to manage anxiety, stress, and everyday challenges.
I also created a Remind group that staff have the option to join if they'd like to receive daily affirmations. It is listed at the bottom of the Toolbox.
